Unveiling the portrait of the cofounders of Sophos 2018

James Hart Dykes’ portrait work has been shown at The National Portrait Gallery as part of the BP Portrait Awards Annual exhibitions and have been selected for The Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibitions. Commissions include a painting of the actor Art Malik and HRH The Princess Royal.

In  April 2018 James’s 3x2m portrait of Dr Peter Lammer and Dr Jan Hruska, the cofounders of Sophos, was unveiled at the head office in Abingdon. Sophos is one of the leading security software and hardware companies .

The brief for the portrait involved painting Peter and Jan as they were roughly fifteen years ago. This was achieved by using a combination of old photographs, sittings with Jan and Peter and the use of a model dressed as Jan and Peter.

Generally James requires three 2 hour sessions where he will make drawings and take photographs. A size for the painting, composition and fee for the painting will be agreed before work is started on the final painting. James can arrange for framing but cost of the frame is in addition to the fee for the painting. Payment for the painting is only required on completion of a painting that the client is entirely happy with.
