COUNTRY HOUSES
The commissioned paintings below represent a small selection of James's country house paintings -
After leaving the Royal College of Art in 1992, having studied architecture, James quickly established himself as one of the leading painters of country houses. He has worked on many commissions in the UK and abroad including a series of paintings of Highgrove, the home of His Royal Highness King Charles.
In 1998 he was selected by Sotheby’s to be one of four living artists to exhibit in a major public exhibition The Artist and the Country House from the Fifteenth Century to the Present Day. The exhibition included works by many historically well known artists such as John Constable and William Turner.
For more than twenty years James has continued to receive commissions to paint country houses and architecture.
In 1998 Sheeran Lock published a book about James’s country house paintings, ‘James Hart Dyke : Country House Paintings’.
